bad news: I’ve been sick with a cold for a few weeks, and I couldn’t seem to shake it.

good news: I FINALLY went to the doctor  + got some antibiotics and now on the mend. YAY!

While being sick, I’ve been working, editing, and asking myself, why aren’t I getting better?   (I know right, slow learner.)

Today, I’ve taken the doctors orders and I’m on the couch resting, watching Nate Berkus.

On the show is one of my FAVORITE people + celebrity chef from his TV show, Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, Guy Fieri

My brain instantly flashed back to photoshoot Guy and I did together that I never blogged. Following doctor’s orders, it’s not in this post.

but, it’s now on my list of things to blog and there are a whole lot of new photos coming!

the rocknroll wedding of Dr. John and Erin from my destination wedding this past March has been featured on one of my fav websites rocknrollbride.com (click here to see Kat’s post)

I originally posted this wedding on my blog, but gave Kat a few more of my fav pics to post – enjoy!

“The Republic of Trinidad and Tobago is not your usual destination wedding location…  Then again, we’re not your typical bride and groom,” wrote Erin & John. “First of all, we wanted to base our wedding and honeymoon around Carnival that happens every year in Trinidad.  It’s one of the world’s largest Carnival celebrations – and we wanted to be dressed in sequins, feathers, and not much else for our honeymoon celebration.  We invited our friends to come to Tobago the week before Carnival for our wedding.  We rented out all the villas at The Palms Villa Resort – and partied for a solid week leading up to our big day.  The following week, our friends followed us on our honeymoon…and danced with us in the streets of Trinidad!  How nice of Trinidad to throw us such a lovely wedding reception!”

The wedding day started with portraits on the beach, “Our photographer Angela Hubbard spent the morning following us around the small island of Tobago taking our photos on the beach, next to the colorful and whimsical architecture of Tobago, with goats, carrying chickens – you name it!  She captured such whimsical, beautiful, and silly moments… The photos are priceless.”

Erin wore an amazing Vera Wang gown and John designed his outfit himself.  ”He wanted something just as unique and special,” continued Erin. “He succeeded, with custom made boots, hat, suit, and a vintage Louis Vuitton silk shirt.  John’s best friend and best man, his chocolate lab, Loki, couldn’t be there – but his life-sized cut-out was!  As for the rest of the bridal party, we gave loose guidelines – but really, it was all about us. With a few accessories like parasols for the bridesmaids and matching hats for the groomsmen – everything came together beautifully.”

“To end our special day, we lit Chinese wishing lanterns and sent them off into the night sky.  It was so beautiful (despite our worry that our wedding might forever be known as “the night we burned down Tobago”) and magical – that thinking back on it now, it hardly seems real…”

What a beautiful location for such a cool couple! Thank you to Erin & John and their photographer Angela for sharing this wedding with us today.

Any one who is getting married or has been married before knows that there is always a bit of a tug of war between doing what is traditionally expected of a wedding and what feels right to you for your wedding. In the past the “doing what is traditionally expected” side usually was the winning side but there is an empowering trend happening in weddings lately that excites me to the bone. I know where I am -  I’m in front of my tele watching my favorite dance TV show – Dancing with the Stars! I may be a bit bias – as I am rooting for my boy = Chris Jericho (team cherico)!

I photographed him a few years back when he and the rockstar bandmates needed some promotional material – for his band was called ‘FOZZY’

I think he’s doing an awesome job.  Go Chris Go!  His partner rules too – go Cheryl Burke!!!!!

OMGGGGGGGG!!!!! This past Sunday, was one of the most special days EVER!!!

One of my best friends Bridgette got married to her love Biff.  I was so excited and thrilled to attend a wedding with all of my closest friends.

A time to celebrate and enjoy the union of such a wonderful couple.  There was an official wedding photographer who did an amazing job  (I was watching closely) but yipiee – I got to enjoy myself!!!

I will say, I  just couldn’t help myself sneak and snap a few detail shots because they were just AMAZING!!!

Bridgette did it all herself (with help from the ladies ) and it was sooooooooooo Bridgette.

The wedding was at an amazing venue in LA

such an amazing job on details and then the wedding… i cried – of course

Biff walked down with his children. They all looked AMAZING!!!

and then the beautiful Bridgette… stunning..STUNNING!!! my gorgeous friend, I LOVE YOU TO BITS!!!!

I’ve never seen her happier and more beautiful then on her wedding.

I loved the father/daughter dance. Especially Em’s sparkly chucks!

and of course my friends!!!

This is definitely a must have for this year’s Christmas gift (or makes a wonderful bridal party gift as well)

I have blogged local designers Wade + Danielle Papin, for years on my blog before, and also had the honor of attending their wedding in May.

I’m also very proud to say they also won The 2010 Western Living Designers of the Year for jewelry design.   Congrats guys!!!!

Recently I checked out their new store in LA and it’s pretty darn amazing.

On my last adventure, I just got back from photographing in Palm Springs @ the Ace Hotel.

This hotel has to be one of the raddest hotels I have photographed in.  It was so cool and perfect to photograph these two hipsters, Cami and Dave and their beloved, BOB.

I love the Ace Hotel because it’s pet friendly, the bob loves it too.
