Aloha!  Today on the advenutres of FOTOCHICK – I sit and edit a few images of  the images I have been documenting here, I can’t help but share with a few of more of the magic that surrounds me.

This place is SPECTACULAR!   It’s 6am and the colors are so surreal at this time of day!!!

the vegetation is mind blowing

the fruit is so fresh and delicious – the best I have ever tasted in my life

and the beach, surf + water is so exotic and extraordinary

how cute is the graffiti of rocks on the lava ?!

from dawn to dusk.. SO SURREAL the beauty that surrounds me.

Another day in paradise – I am so blessed. aloha!

Some of these disciplines are related to juggling or baton twirling (both forms of object manipulation), and there is also an affinity between fire dancing and rhythmic gymnastics. Firedancing is often performed to music. Fire dancing has been a traditional part of cultures from around the world, and modern fire performance often includes visual and stylistic elements from many traditions.

ummmmm hello.. one word for this – AWESOME!

I was blessed to see and snap these images during my visit to Hawaii at a luau I attended.

It was so fun to be able to capture these images.  I just love them and wanted to share them with you.

Did I mentions that Hawaii is now my most favorite place in the world for this Vancouver portrait photographer.  uh-huh!

ok, so today I think I will post one of the coolest things I have ever done.  We took a helicopter around the Big Island in Hawaii.

Our flight was around the world’s most active volcano. Kilauea.  It has been erupting almost continuously since 1983, pouring red-hot molten earth into the cool waters of the Pacific Ocean.

Pretty awesome, right?!

WOW  – the things I have seen, photographed and experienced here have been incredible and surreal!  more to post… soon

I kind of feel I’m on Fantasy Island with Mr. Roarke and Tatoo.. de plane, de place…

If you know me at all, you know I LOVE COLOR!~~  and I found it in my travels.  I found it on one of my favorite streets in Barcelona -  on La Rambla.

La Rambla is a street in central Barcelona, popular with both tourists and locals alike.

A 1.2 kilometer-long tree-lined pedestrian mall between Barri Gòtic and El Raval, it connects Plaça Catalunya in the center with the Christopher Columbus monument at Port Vell.

and these crazy characters….

Las Ramblas in Barcelona is approximately 1.2 kilometres long with Port Vell (near the cruise port terminal) at the Southern most end and Placa Catalunya at the northern most end.

If you have your back to Port Vell and you are looking up towards Catalunya along the Ramblas on your left hand side is the Raval area and on your right-hand side is the Barri Gotic (or Gothic Quarter).  Barcelona Las Ramblas can also be roughly divided into seedy and non-seedy areas.

La Rambla can be crowded, especially during prime time tourist season. Most of the time, there are many more tourists than locals occupying the Rambla—this has changed the shopping selection, as well as the character of the street in general. For this reason also, it has become a prime target for pickpocketing (knock on wood, I didn’t get robbed!)

While you walk down Las Ramblas, you can sit and have a coffee/sangria, get some food, buy some flowers, look at statue people and buy pets!

Local children and their parents come down on the weekend because they have a huge selection of pets from bunnies,

to birds,

to roosters?????

weird, right?!  Oh well, my adventures in Barcelona continue…

The Temple Expiatori de la Sagrada Família (official Catalan name; Spanish: Templo Expiatorio de la Sagrada Familia; “Expiatory Church of the Holy Family”), often simply called the Sagrada Família, is a massive, privately-funded Roman Catholic church that has been under construction in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain since 1882 and is not expected to be complete until at least 2026.

2026 - whoaaaaa!!!  I can’t wait to go back to Barcelona and see the completion of the church

Considered the master-work of renowned Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí (1852–1926), the project’s vast scale and idiosyncratic design have made it one of Barcelona’s (and Spain’s) top tourist attractions for many years.

It’s just incredible!

the details, the history… you MUST experience this.. I can’t put it into words. Simply FABULOUS!

The Sagrada Familia was designed by Antoni Gaudí (1852–1926), who worked on the project from 1883 and devoted the last 15 years of his life entirely to the endeavor. In 1882, prior to Gaudí’s involvement, Francesc del Villar was commissioned to design a church on the site. He resigned a year later and Gaudí was appointed the project architect, redesigning the project entirely. The project is scheduled to be completed in 2026. On the subject of the extremely long construction period, Gaudí is said to have remarked, “My client is not in a hurry.” After Gaudí’s death in 1926, work continued under the direction of Domènech Sugranyes until interrupted by the Spanish Civil War in 1936. Parts of the unfinished church and Gaudí’s models and workshop were destroyed during the war by Catalan anarchists. The present design is based on reconstructed versions of the lost plans as well as on modern adaptations.
