Today I feel so blessed to have been chosen photographer, to document the celebration! It was a beautiful day for a Vancouver wedding celebration and also a big shout out to my second shooter, the ever fantastic B Calhoun for sharing the day with me.

I feel so lucky to be a Vancouver newborn photographer.

It’s twice as much work as wedding photography,

I charge half the price as I would for a one hour session, yet spend 3 hours more

wow! does time fly! and I also apologize for this blog post being late. Happy Anniversary my sweet friends Krista and Colin.

Many of you may recognize my ‘poster kids’ Krista and Colin. Their wedding pics are posted here from their GORGEOUS wedding back in 2006 (September 28) in Big Sur, California.

Krista has a smile that lights up a room. The second you meet her, you can feel nothing but the love she has inside her. We met randomly at a conference here in Vancouver. Our paths were blessed to cross and our talks of love were spoken and our words to each other were kept, I felt so blessed to have been flown out to document her big day to the love of her life and her soulmate, Colin (also a filmmaker) 5 years ago!

K+C – I wish you nothing more but a lifetime of happiness. You are such dear friends and my life became instantly better the moment we met.

I LOVE YOU BOTH SO MUCH!

I’m here, I’m here – sorry blog readers….

I have had a REALLY busy couple of month with weddings, TONS of boudoir, rocknroll bands as well as delicious newborns!

I promise there will be a bunch of new images posted very soon. One thing I love about being a Vancouver wedding and portrait photographer, are sometimes escapes to other cities – haha. I love a beautiful Friday wedding in Vancouver. Especially one looking over or at the water, which is where I found myself yesterday.

We started out at 2pm – I was with our beautiful bride, Rachel, while my second shooter was at the groom’s.

I arrived a bit early, (as I always do) finding myself there before the bride, as was let in by her dad, Ted. Ted is awesome!!

We chit chatted then decided to focus on the details until Rachel got there. Her house was filled with so many hidden treasures, plus arriving early, I love that it gave me some time to play.

destination wedding featured on rocknroll bride | Hubbard photography

Photographing weddings in Vancouver is fabulous, but the fabulousness is even MORE fabulous, when my Vancouver wedding couples plan a destination wedding which is what Erin and Dr. John did.

I originally posted this wedding on my blog, but gave Kat a few more of my fav pics to post – enjoy!

“The Republic of Trinidad and Tobago is not your usual destination wedding location… Then again, we’re not your typical bride and groom,” wrote Erin & John. “First of all, we wanted to base our wedding and honeymoon around Carnival that happens every year in Trinidad. It’s one of the world’s largest Carnival celebrations – and we wanted to be dressed in sequins, feathers, and not much else for our honeymoon celebration. We invited our friends to come to Tobago the week before Carnival for our wedding. We rented out all the villas at The Palms Villa Resort – and partied for a solid week leading up to our big day. The following week, our friends followed us on our honeymoon…and danced with us in the streets of Trinidad! How nice of Trinidad to throw us such a lovely wedding reception!”

The wedding day started with portraits on the beach, “Our photographer Angela Hubbard spent the morning following us around the small island of Tobago taking our photos on the beach, next to the colorful and whimsical architecture of Tobago, with goats, carrying chickens – you name it! She captured such whimsical, beautiful, and silly moments… The photos are priceless.”

Erin wore an amazing Vera Wang gown and John designed his outfit himself. ”He wanted something just as unique and special,” continued Erin. “He succeeded, with custom made boots, hat, suit, and a vintage Louis Vuitton silk shirt. John’s best friend and best man, his chocolate lab, Loki, couldn’t be there – but his life-sized cut-out was! As for the rest of the bridal party, we gave loose guidelines – but really, it was all about us. With a few accessories like parasols for the bridesmaids and matching hats for the groomsmen – everything came together beautifully.”

“To end our special day, we lit Chinese wishing lanterns and sent them off into the night sky. It was so beautiful (despite our worry that our wedding might forever be known as “the night we burned down Tobago”) and magical – that thinking back on it now, it hardly seems real…”

What a beautiful location for such a cool couple! Thank you to Erin & John and their photographer Angela for sharing this wedding with us today.
